Joy of The Fillmore House : Dharma Moon-Hunter
I am a black mixed creative born and raised in Oakland and San Francisco. I've lived in and participated in artist/activist collectives and communities via my parents, and attended local arts schools like OSA and Destiny Arts Center. I practice multiple creative disciplines in visual and performing arts; fashion, dance, music, root work, and illustration. I started making money from singing, performing in films, and painting from the age of 12, I toured Italy with a choir and later sang in punk bands like Replica. I went from co-founding DJ vinyl collective B-Side Brujas to skateboarding and making art with Unity Queer Skateboarding, before joining a self defense school and honing in on healing recovery work.
My creative expression has always been through an iconoclastic lense, and a way to bring deeper feeling to the surface. My intention is to heal traumas. I currently play bass in Princess520, lead vocals in Shuv, and sing background for Spellling. I work with plants in various capacities and offer medicine songs in prayer gatherings. My passions are dreamwork, painting plants, gardening, food security, fashion, illustration, skateboarding, music and community self defense.
